Burnley Public Library

Burnley central library, opened in July, 1930. Quite a comprehensive library service had developed in Burnley by that date, but it was too fragmented to be at all satisfactory. The new building became the hub of a more efficient system and was soon the centre of Burnley’s cultural life. Photo, circa, 1940’s.
